Sing You to Sleep

I am just a traveler through mountains and through snow I am waiting on the wind and rains to tell me where to go The wind across the plains is all I ever want to know And your eyes, circle steady like the stars up in the sky

We met upon the sandy shores of a lake just off the coast where the sound of strings had settled in your soul and though I wasn't ready then for all the light you hold I’m ready now, and I’m making my way back home

To sing you to sleep, sing you to sleep If it’s a friend you need, let it be me

The roots around Augusta are too rough upon the soles of these shoes that walk to bring me back to you many miles I have crossed and many hours I have lost to a dream that never will come true

And so with all my failures I am knocking at your door with a wish for things to never be the way they were before to simply spend the days still left with the one that I adore to close these eyes, on a bed with you beside

And sing you to sleep, sing you to sleep whatever you may need, let it be me
